While exploring Tombstone, Arizona, we decided to drive over the Bisbee, about another 24 miles away.
I had never been there before and I have
to say, of all the places I have been in this country, I'd have to say that
Bisbee really surprised me in many ways. It is a very, very different kind of
town.
Once a thriving copper mining town, due to the decline in the mining operations,
Bisbee has since then seemed to have turned into a haven for artists. Seemingly
separated from the rest of the world, and nestled in a canyon of the Mule
mountains, Bisbee's housing and architecture is very dramatic and diverse, and
frankly, bizarre in so many ways. With extreme variations of housing developed
around the steep slopes overlooking the downtown area, it is like no other I
have seen in this country.
Bisbee, it's culture, it's history, and surrounding geography is definitely a fascinating place to visit and explore. You can be assured that there will be more "Geographicals" posted from this out of the ordinary place.
