* Above the World *

Although they are always breathtaking, with my own short attention span, I myself am getting bored with the redundant pictures of the Arizona sky. So I went back into my archives and dug this one out from July 4, 1999, when I was flying back across the country to Virginia, from visiting my sister in Oregon.

The most interesting part of this flight was that it took place on July 4th, and I was disappointed with the thought that I would not get to see any fireworks. But I was wrong, and half way across the country I could see fireworks all over on the ground below. Shooting out over the Mississippi river and throughout the various towns, I watched in amazement. I got the attention of a small boy in the seat in front of me, who was obviously bored, and before I knew it, people all began to look out of the windows and admire the displays.
And even in the most remote places across the country, where it was blanketed in total darkness, I could still see little flashes of light popping up everywhere and bursting into colors.
