A very special thank you to my dear friends Rocky Haddock and Frances Graczyk.

With the season deep into the fall many of the trees were pretty scarce and bare. But it did make a nice contrast amongst the ones that were still changing.

All through the woods I found lots of various mushrooms and fungi.

The trees still made a nice blanket from the sky and different locations in the woods were dark and mysterious.

This tree below reminded me of some of the redwoods. It appears that it had fell down at one time but continued to grow from the sides. Many of the redwoods will do this same thing.

As I came out of the woods I heard a rush of wind and looked up just in time to see a sky covered with birds. As the cold of winter approaches we can often see thousands of these black birds as they saturate an area and move on.

Here I feel that I must show off some of the local rock formations. This stone below is actually made of some composite material. A plastic rock. It is hollow and is covering the water main. They have some rule in that area that all the water mains have to be on the opposite side of the house as the septic. Sounds like a good rule to me. But since the septic is usually at the rear of the property then the water main would need to be in the front. So to cover up the visually offensive pipes and valves they use these faux stones. Some homes actually just have a little dome covering the obtrusive plumbing. But I think that the fake rocks are quite humorous. You can actually see this very same stone as the mountain in the "Graphical" section of my daily image archives at: 001101.htm
